Hungarian presidency

Hungary will hold the EU Presidency in the first half of 2011 and Europa Media is looking forward to the several events that will be organised in Hungary in that time. The website of the Hungarian presidency is http://www.eutrio.hu/. So far there is no information available on the major events, but in this blog we will try to publish the news.

Hungary’s priorities will include continued talks with Croatia and the Western Balkans, enlargement of the Schengen zone, environmentprotection and water management, as well as efforts to maintain the cultural diversity of Europe. (Politics.hu)

Hungary also wants to strengthen the Eastern Partnership and develop a genuine Danube Strategy besides reflecting on the economic crisis, the evaluation of the Lisbon treaty and offering stable, new financial frameworks and mechanism for setting budgets after 2013.

Hungary believes the main aim of creating a Danube macro-region is to establish a regional forum for the affected communities. In addition, Hungary feels that the different parties should not only be structured based on interests, but also based on a set of strong community values with European significance.
