ICT for secondary schools

OLAREX Team invites you to participate in a survey organized in frame of the Open Learning Approach with Remote Experiments project, which is co-funded by European Union.

This questionnaire is developed for find out what are the actual ICT knowledge needs for secondary school teachers and students.

The aims of this survey are:

  •  to analyse the knowledge/skills needs requested from secondary school students to successful transition in higher education or high-grade vocational training or to start a career, and for university students as a future employees in industry;
  •  to analyse e-learning materials and remote experiments needs and education methods.

Voice of the resarchers-Call for expression of interest

The Commission is launching a call for expression of interest targeting researchers of all ages, nationalities and disciplines residing in Europe.

The aim is to select 20 excellent candidates, full of insight and constructive ideas for:

  • Defining researchers’ role and contribution to global societal challenges such as climate change, sustainable energy, poverty…;
  • Improving the career prospects and working conditions of researchers in Europe
    (funding, mobility, career structures, social security…);
  • Strengthening the social prestige and recognition of researchers as professionals, highlighting the central role of research and researchers in society and in the generation of growth and jobs;
  • Developing new, interactive communication channels between researchers and the Commission – in order to have a tangible impact on policy-making – and between European researchers themselves.

The selected candidates will be invited to a “Voice of the Researchers” brainstorming session on 23rd April 2012 to launch the discussion, generate innovative ideas and agree on potential actions, including the perspective of jointly organizing a major event during the first quarter of 2013.

The call is open to researchers of all ages, nationalities and disciplines residing in Europe.

EU support for entrepreneurs, enterprises and SMEs in 2014-2020

The future of EU funding entails various novelties. Not only all the research and innovation funding is being streamlined into Horizon 2020, but other EU funding schemes and support mechanisms are also undergoing certain changes with a view to simplification. The new Programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (COSME) aims at improving the business environment and the competitiveness of European enterprises. It will run from 2014 to 2020, with a planned budget of €2.5billion. Specifically, the COSME Programme will aim to:

  • Facilitate access to finance for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs);
  • Create  an environment favourable to business creation and growth;
  • Encourage  an entrepreneurial culture in Europe;
  • Increase  the sustainable competitiveness of EU companies;
  • Help  small businesses operate outside their home countries and improve their access to markets.

The European Parliament and the Council will now discuss the Commission’s proposal for the COSME Programme. If adopted, it should start running from 1 January 2014.
